Welcome to the MSOE Animal Experience
At Montessori Seeds of Education, our animals have never been “extras” --
they have been teachers, companions, and essential members of our learning environment.
For years, our goats, mini horses, and chickens cultivate responsibility, empathy, confidence, and joy in our students. Children fed them, cleaned their spaces, collected eggs, observed their habits, and built bonds that cannot be replicated through books or lessons alone.
This page offers a deeper look into what our animal program means for our school, why we are working so hard to bring it back, and how your support directly impacts our children.
Why the Animals Matter at MSOE 🌱 Real Responsibility Children take part in daily care:
• feeding
• watering
• sweeping
• mucking
• collecting eggs
• observing health and behavior
These simple acts build independence, self-confidence, and pride in meaningful work.
💚 Emotional Development & Empathy Caring for animals teaches children to be gentle, patient, and attentive.
Animals provide non-judgmental companionship and help children develop the emotional skills Montessori education values deeply.
🌍 Connection to Nature From understanding how eggs are produced to seeing how animals respond to weather changes, children gain firsthand knowledge of life cycles, ecology, and stewardship.
🏡 A Sense of Community The animals unify our school.
Children feel they are caring for something bigger than themselves.
Parents and guides collaborate, and the school grounds feel alive with purpose and joy.
Before & After: Why We Need Your HelpOur animal area needed major improvements --
and with rising material and construction costs, rebuilding safely and properly requires community support.
Your contribution helps us:
• rebuild secure fencing
• repair and improve animal housing
• provide safe footing + drainage
• ensure proper feed and veterinary care
• restore the environment the children loved
Every dollar truly makes a difference.
